This July 4th America celebrates its 250th birthday!
It is always fun picking up books to read with the young ones in your life that go along with the seasons and/or holidays.
The 4th of July often has fun events, such as parades, pool parties, and grill outs. These holidays create some wonderful memory making time with your family. It is also nice to share what the holiday means and why we celebrate it and getting reading time in about it can really help! I have some variety here, some more serious books about the country and some fun, lighthearted reads!

The 4th of July Story by Alice Dalgliesh

This engaging look at America’s birthday introduces young readers to the history behind Independence Day and the people and events that helped shape our nation. I do want to say, this one isn’t really a picture book, its more of a thin chapter book. It would be great for all ages, with the youngest enjoying the pictures. I included it because it is one of my favorites!

I really love Peter Spier books. He just brings history to life for kids! His books always have beautiful, simple illustrations too!
